Be a part of Patmos forever.

Create a stepping stone for future generations and leave an imprint of the lives you love here in the clay of Patmos – building something that will grace this beautiful island for decades to come.

Tread Lightly!

Our footsteps are what ground us to the Earth we live on, and give us a sense of belonging. We’re inviting you to become part of the very heart of the Gardens of Discovery and leave your legacy in clay by sponsoring a personalized tile on the floor of our library and its courtyard.

Choose your beloved animal from the Gardens of Discovery Tree of Life logo and we will press it into Patmian clay, then fire it using centuries-old techniques to create a lasting memory for future generations who tread this floor.

The floor will become patterned with a mixture of rectangular and hexagonal terracotta tiles.

The Library is a quiet and reflective space at the heart of the centre, where individuals and small groups may study, reflect and think together.

How Will You Leave Your Legacy?

Help us open our doors in 2026!

All you have to do is ….

  1. Choose your Tile
  2. Choose your favourite creature from our Tree of Life logo
  3. Personalise it with your initials, your name, or a short message (add a note during checkout if the tile is a gift!)

Centuries old techniques

The tiles are produced on the island using traditional techniques which have remained the same for centuries. Your design will be transformed into a stamp, hand pressed into the ceramic and fired at over 1000˚C.

Once your tiles have been laid, we will send you a photo of them. And if you come to visit the Centre, you will be welcomed with a pot of our freshest herb or fruit tea!

Gift a Tile to Someone You Love!

A custom Patmian tile would be a very special gift for animal lovers, Patmos lovers, and nature-lovers of all kinds – as well as those who want to be a small part of the Metropolitan Kallistos Memorial Library.

If you’d like to leave an imprint of the lives you love here in the clay of Patmos, consider gifting a tile today! Soon after purchase, you will receive a certificate and image with an artistic rendering of your tile. Later, once the tile is imprinted, fired, and laid, we will share real-time photos of the completed tile and library. There are even group options to give a gift for the whole family!

You can let us know your tile is a gift by adding a Note to your order during checkout.

About the Metropolitan Kallistos Memorial Library

As a Brother of the Monastery of St John the Theologian on Patmos, where he became a monk in 1966, Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia was a regular visitor to the island for over 50 years. In September 2013, he formally became an Advisor to Gardens of Discovery.

Central to the Learning Centre will be the Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia Library  which will house his collected works, including facsimiles of his hand-written notebooks. Our plans include memorial lectures, study days and pilgrimages in his honour, to explore our faith in a sustainable ecological context.

Your sponsorship will help us complete our library and courtyard, and help the Centre get that bit closer to opening our doors.
